How to buy a second-hand pram without making a mistake
A premium pram at half the price is the best deal you can make in baby gear, brands like Cybex, Bugaboo or Thule are built to last for more children than the average family has. You just need to know what to check and where to buy.
Why a branded second-hand marketplace is worth it
- Price: A pram 2–3 years old for 40–60% of the new price, while its actual lifespan is 2–3 children.
- Residual value: Once it has served its purpose for you, sell it on again: with premium brands often at only a small loss.
- Availability of parts: Bugaboo, Cybex and Thule have readily available spare parts (wheels, handles, fabric), worn parts are not an issue.
Checklist before purchase
Chassis (most important)
- Fold and unfold: the mechanism must click without force; play in the joints means an expensive repair.
- Wheels: roll true without wobble; bearings must not rattle; for pneumatic tyres check tyre pressure.
- Brake holds on an incline; suspension springs symmetrically
- Frame without cracks or deep scratches (minor scuffs are normal)
Textil a korba
- Fading (a "beach pram" ages faster), mould in the seams and in the carrycot mattress.
- Zips and buckles work; straps are not frayed.
- Most brands have removable and washable fabric: dirt is not an issue, mould is.
Documents and origin
- For more expensive items, ask for a proof of purchase or at least a verifiable history ("where did you buy it?").
- Serial number on the frame: stolen items exist; a price significantly below market rate is a warning sign.

Key difference: pram versus car seat
A second-hand pram is a great idea. A second-hand car seat is a risk: after an accident it may have invisible damage, and you can never be sure of the history of someone else's seat. That is why you will not find car seats on this website, and if a travel system includes a seat, treat it as a bonus, not as a reason to buy.
